SBI has announced a total of 541 vacancies, including 500 regular openings and 41 backlog openings. The detailed category-wise distribution is listed below:

Note: Reservation for PwBD is horizontal. OBC candidates belonging to the “Creamy Layer” are not eligible for reservation benefits and must apply under the Unreserved (UR) category.

Eligibility Criteria (As on Dates Specified)

1. Age Limit (As on 01.04.2025)

Candidates must be between 21 and 30 years of age as of April 1, 2025. (i.e., born not later than 01.04.2004 and not earlier than 02.04.1995, both days inclusive).

Upper age relaxation is provided to reserved categories as follows:

  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 Years
  • SC / ST: 5 Years
  • PwBD (UR/EWS): 10 Years
  • PwBD (OBC): 13 Years
  • PwBD (SC/ST): 15 Years
  • Ex-Servicemen / Commissioned Officers: 5 Years

2. Essential Academic Qualifications (As on 30.09.2025)

  • Graduation: A degree in any discipline from a recognized University or equivalent qualification recognized by the Central Government.
  • Final Year Students: Candidates in their final year/semester of graduation can apply provisionally, provided they can produce proof of passing the graduation exam on or before September 30, 2025.
  • Professional qualifications like Chartered Accountant (CA), Cost Accountant, Engineering, or Medical degrees are also eligible.

3. Credit Profile Check (CIBIL Score)

Candidates with a record of default in repayment of loans, credit card dues, or adverse reports in CIBIL are not eligible for appointment unless they regularize or clear their outstanding debts before the offer of appointment is issued.

Selection Procedure: Three-Phase Process

The selection process is highly competitive and is carried out in three distinct phases:

Phase-I: Online Preliminary Examination (100 Marks)

This is an objective screening test of 1-hour duration consisting of 3 sections. There are no sectional cut-offs in the Preliminary examination.

Candidates numbering approximately 10 times the vacancies in each category will be shortlisted for the Main Exam.

Phase-II: Online Main Examination (250 Marks)

The Main Examination consists of an Objective Test (200 marks) followed immediately by an online Descriptive Test (50 marks).

B. Descriptive Paper (Duration: 30 Minutes)

  • Marks: 50
  • Syllabus: Emails (Compulsory), Reports (Compulsory), and either Situation Analysis or Précis Writing.
  • Note: Candidates must achieve a sectional cut-off score in each of the objective sections and the descriptive paper individually to clear the Main Exam.

Penalty for Wrong Answers: For both Prelims and Mains, 1/4 of the marks assigned to a question will be deducted as a penalty for every incorrect answer. No penalty is applied for unattempted questions.

Phase-III: Psychometric Test & Final Interview (50 Marks)

Candidates qualifying the Main examination (up to 3 times the category vacancies) will be called for Phase-III:

  • Psychometric Test: Conducted for personality profiling; findings are presented to the interview panel.
  • Group Exercise: 20 Marks
  • Personal Interview: 30 Marks

Final Merit List Normalization

The marks of Phase-I are excluded from the final merit list. Phase-II and Phase-III marks are normalized to a total score of 100:

  • Main Examination (Phase-II): Converted from 250 to 75 marks
  • Group Exercise & Interview (Phase-III): Converted from 50 to 25 marks

Salary, Emoluments & Bond Conditions

  • Basic Pay: Presently, the starting basic pay is ₹48,480/- (plus 4 advance increments) in the scale of ₹48480-2000/7-62480-2340/2-67160-2680/7-85920 applicable to Junior Management Grade Scale-I.
  • Perks & Allowances: Eligible for DA, HRA, CCA, PF, Lease rental facility, Medical facility, and NPS.
  • Total CTC: The approximate Cost to Company (CTC) at the initial scale of pay at the Mumbai Centre is ₹20.43 Lakhs per annum.
  • Service Bond: Selected candidates must execute a service bond of ₹2.00 Lakhs to serve the bank for a minimum period of 3 years from the date of joining.
  • Probation Period: 2 Years.

Maximum Number of Permissible Chances

Appearing in the Preliminary examination is not counted as a chance, but appearing in the Main Examination is counted:

  • UR / EWS: 4 Chances
  • UR (PwBD) / EWS (PwBD) / OBC / OBC (PwBD): 7 Chances
  • SC / SC (PwBD) / ST / ST (PwBD): No Restriction

  • SC / ST / PwBD Candidates: Nil

Step-by-Step Guide: How to Apply Online for SBI PO 2025-26

Applying for the SBI Probationary Officer position must be completed entirely online. The registration window is open from June 24, 2025, to July 14, 2025. Follow this detailed breakdown to ensure your application is submitted successfully without any errors.

Step 1: Prepare Your Documents and Scanned Images

Before logging onto the portal, you must scan and save the following documents matching SBI’s exact technical specifications:

  • Passport Size Photograph:
    • Must be a recent, colored passport-style picture taken against a light-colored (preferably white) background.
    • Dimensions should ideally be 200 x 230 pixels.
    • File size must be between 20 kb and 50 kb.
    • Tip: Keep 8 identical physical copies of this photo, as you will need them throughout the entire selection process.
  • Live Photograph Capture:
    • During the online registration process, you will also be required to capture a live photograph using your computer’s webcam or by scanning a QR code with your mobile phone.
  • Signature:
    • You must sign on white paper using a Black Ink Pen.
    • Dimensions should ideally be 140 x 60 pixels, with a file size between 10 kb and 20 kb.
    • Warning: Signatures written completely in CAPITAL LETTERS will be summarily rejected.
  • Left-Hand Thumb Impression:
    • Put your thumb impression on white paper using black or blue ink.
    • File size must be between 20 kb and 50 kb (240 x 240 pixels at 200 DPI preferred).
    • Note: If you do not have a left thumb, you may use your right-hand thumb impression.
  • Hand-Written Declaration:
    • You must write out the official text in English clearly on a white paper using black ink.
    • File size must be between 50 kb and 100 kb (800 x 400 pixels at 200 DPI preferred).
    • Warning: Declarations written completely in CAPITAL LETTERS will not be accepted.

Official Text for the Hand-Written Declaration:

“I, _______ (Name of the candidate), (Date of Birth) hereby declare that all the information submitted by me in the application form is correct, true and valid. I will present the supporting documents as and when required. The signature, photograph and left-hand thumb impression is of mine.”

Step 2: Online Registration Process

  1. Access the Portal: Open your browser and visit the official SBI careers page: bank.sbi/web/careers/current-openings.
  2. Locate the Advertisement: Scroll down and find the link for Advertisement No. CRPD/PO/2025-26/04. Click on “Apply Online”.
  3. Generate Credentials: Fill in your basic details to register. Once you save your initial details, the system will generate a provisional Registration Number and Password on your screen. Note these down carefully, as they are required to log back into your application.
  4. Fill Out the Application Form: Provide accurate details regarding your personal identity, reservation category, and academic qualifications.
  5. Review Before Submitting: Review every single field carefully. Once you click final submission, you will not be allowed to change, edit, or modify any parameters (including your category) under any circumstances.

  • Click on the designated individual links provided on the application portal to upload your scanned photograph, live photo, signature, thumb impression, and hand-written declaration.
  • Check the preview window to make sure all images are completely clear and legible. If an image is blurry or uploaded into the wrong field, your application will be rejected.

Step 4: Online Fee Payment

After confirming your complete application details, you will be redirected to an integrated payment gateway.

  • Application Fee Structure:
    • General / EWS / OBC Candidates: ₹750/-
    • SC / ST / PwBD Candidates: Nil (Exempted)
  • Modes of Payment: You can pay using Debit Cards, Credit Cards, Internet Banking, or UPI. Any transaction charges incurred will be borne by the candidate.

Step 5: Save Confirmation Printouts

Upon a successful transaction, an e-receipt and a final completed system-generated application form will automatically populate.

  • Take a clean printout of both the application form and the payment e-receipt for your records.
  • Do not send a hard copy of this application or any other supporting certificates to the SBI office via post.
