- GalaxEye has created a new milestone in India by becoming the first private space company to launch the world’s first OptoSAR satellite under Mission Drishti. The satellite was launched aboard SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket from California. With this mission, India has achieved a significant advancement in all‑weather earth observation capability.
- The Punjab Government has expanded the Kharif Maize Diversification Scheme from the current six districts to 16 districts for the 2026‑27 season. Farmers will receive a financial incentive of ₹17,500 per hectare to replace the water‑guzzling crop paddy. To avail this benefit, farmers must register themselves on the government portal https://agrimachinerypb.com.
- South Korea created a new history with launching its new next‑generation mid‑sized Earth Observation Satellite No. 2 aboard SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket from California. Designed by Korea Aerospace Industries, the satellite will support land management and disaster response in South Korea.
- India won the bronze medal in the Thomas Cup after straight 0-3 loss to France in the semifinals. India last won the competition in 2022, which was its first Thomas Cup title. Previously, India had secured bronze medals in 1952, 1955, and 1979.
- Jannik Sinner of Italy won the Madrid Open for the first time by defeating Alexander Zverev of Germany in straight sets. With this victory, Sinner became the first man to win five consecutive Masters 1000 events.
- The Andaman and Nicobar Islands set another Guinness World Record by forming the tallest underwater human stack at Swaraj Dweep (formerly Havelock Island). The stack measured 22.3 meters and remained underwater for three minutes. This achievement followed the record set on 3 May 2026, when the islands unfurled the largest underwater national flag measuring 60 by 40 meters.
- Indian Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi undertook a four‑day visit to Myanmar to strengthen cooperation between the two countries. He met with his counterpart, Rear Admiral Aung Aung Naing, Commander of the Central Naval Command of the Myanmar Navy.
