• Madame Tussauds, London has launched “Icons of India” to celebrate cinema, cricket, and the vibrant culture of India.
• Government of India has approved of 100% Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the Indian insurance sector. Foreign investors can now own 100% in private insurance companies without prior approval from the Government or the Reserve Bank of India. Three distinct categories have been framed for this.
• Department of Posts, J&K Postal Circle released a special cover for the holy relics of Tathagata Buddha at Leh, UT of Ladakh. The cover was released by Arunachal Pradesh CM Pema Khandu. The event was organized by the Ministry of Culture in partnership with the All Ladakh Buddhist Association and the All Ladakh Gonpa Association under the theme “Peace Beyond Borders.” The relics were excavated from Piprahwa Stupa, Uttar Pradesh, in 1898.
• Pole Vaulter Kuldeep Kumar from Madhya Pradesh broke the national record by clearing 5.41m at the Indian Indoor Open Combined Events and Pole Vault Competition in Bhubaneswar. He surpassed Dev Kumar Meena’s 5.40m record set last year, also from Madhya Pradesh.
• Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Vadodara introduced “Modi Tattva” into the Sociology syllabus, focusing on Narendra Modi and the history of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. The same university have also launched a new two‑year Master’s programme named “Sociology of Patriotism.”
• Prasoon Joshi, renowned writer and lyricist, has been appointed Chairman of Prasar Bharati after Navneet Kumar Sehgal’s resignation. Joshi, a Padma Shri awardee, is known for his work in films, advertising, and public messaging. He was previously CEO and Chief Creative Officer of McCann Worldgroup India and Chairman of McCann Worldgroup Asia Pacific.
• India and Ecuador are discussing a possible Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) focusing on pharmaceuticals and critical mineral cooperation. The Foreign Minister of Ecuador is on a two‑day visit to New Delhi.
• Cabinet Appointments:
  • Ashok Lahiri has been appointed Vice Chairman of NITI Aayog (Chairman: Prime Minister of India).
  • Two full‑time members have also been appointed:
    • R. Balasubramaniam, member of HR Capacity Building Commission, known for powering the Mission Karmayogi project through digital training of civil servants.
    • Joram Aniya from Arunachal Pradesh, Head of the Department of Hindi at Dera Natung Government College, Itanagar. She is the first woman from the Nyishi community to earn a PhD and the first Hindi language scholar in the state.
• The 400^th foundation anniversary of Kiratpur Sahib was commemorated by the SGPC. Kiratpur Sahib was founded in 1626 by Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji. The town has been closely associated with several Sikh Gurus, including Guru Har Rai Ji and Guru Harkrishan Ji, who attained the divine light of life here.
  There are many famous gurdwaras at Kiratpur Sahib, such as:
  • Gurdwara Patalpuri Sahib
  • Gurdwara Charan Kamal Sahib
  • Gurdwara Sheesh Mahal Sahib
  • Gurdwara Baba Gurditta Ji
  • These gurdwaras hold special significance and reference to the sacred heritage of Kiratpur Sahib.
