- Sardar Kartar Singh Sarabha, the Indian revolutionary, was born on 24 May 1896 in Sarabha village near Ludhiana. He was the most famous accused in the Lahore Conspiracy Trial and was executed at Lahore on 16 November 1915. His father, Mangal Singh, died when Kartar Singh was very young, and after his father’s death, his upbringing was taken care of by his grandfather, Sardar Badan Singh Ji.
- The Hemkund Sahib Yatra begins with the first jatha from Gurdwara Govindghat near Badrinath, as the portals for registration have also opened in Chamoli, Uttarakhand.
- Sahi Ram Bishnoi, the oldest legislator of undivided Punjab, passed away at the age of 101 in Sakta Khera, Dabwali.
