- India will join the United Nations’ inaugural Global Dialogue on Artificial Intelligence (AI) Governance in Geneva, Switzerland, on 6–7 July, with the participation of Kirti Vardhan Singh, Minister of State for External Affairs and Environment, Forest and Climate Change.
- Teejan Bai, the renowned folk artiste from Chhattisgarh, has passed away at the age of 70. A Padma Vibhushan awardee, she transformed Pandavani from a regional folk tradition into a globally recognised performance art. Pandavani is traditionally performed in two styles — the seated Vedamati style and the more theatrical standing Kapalik style. Teejan Bai specialised in the Kapalik style, marked by expressive acting and powerful narration in retelling stories from the Mahabharata.
- India will chair the meeting of the Intergovernmental Group of Experts on Consumer Protection Law and Policy, organised by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) in Geneva, Switzerland, from 6–8 July. The session will be attended by Nidhi Khare, Secretary of the Department of Consumer Affairs, who has been invited by UNCTAD. This marks the 9th session of the Intergovernmental Group of Experts on Consumer Protection Law and Policy.

- Indian teen cricketer Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has become the youngest player to represent India, making his debut at the age of 15 years and 99 days at Old Trafford in Manchester against England.

- On 6 July 2026, India is celebrating the 125th birth anniversary of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee, one of the country’s most distinguished political leaders, educationists, and nationalists. He founded the Bharatiya Jana Sangh and served as the first Cabinet Minister for Industry and Supply in Jawaharlal Nehru’s cabinet.
