PSSSB Senior Assistant Exam – Detailed Overview
The PSSSB Senior Assistant exam was held across Punjab at different centers, with Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar (GNDU) acting as the paper setting authority. The paper carried a total of 120 questions, each worth one mark, making the exam 120 marks in all.
For Group B posts, the Punjabi qualifying paper (Part A) was not included. Normally, this section has 50 questions, and candidates need at least 25 correct answers to qualify. Importantly, there is no negative marking in this part.

PSSSB Senior Assistant Exam 1st Section – GK and Current Affairs, 30 Questions
In the first section of the exam, which had a total of 30 questions carrying 30 marks, the level was Easy to Moderate with very simple questions like the full form of EPFO, the first athlete who won 2 medals in the same Olympics, the Revolt of 1857 started in, who re‑appointed the NSA, and the National Creators Awards. These questions were asked to check common sense, as it could be answered by reading the options—three options could be cancelled out and only one remained correct.
Other questions includedthe re‑appointment of the NSA, old laws replaced by new criminal laws in India, along with some moderate questions like Jake Sullivan’s meeting with Ajit Doval and its purpose, and ISRO’s Reusable Launch Vehicle ‘Pushpak’. These required some extra in‑depth knowledge of the last 2 years of current affairs. In this section, there were also some questions that were quite hard for the aspirants, e.g. the new MSP for Paddy crop (Common) for the marketing season 2024‑25. PSSSB Senior Assistant Exam 2nd Section – Punjab History & Culture, 20 Questions
The trend was the same as in the previous section, and many of the questions were directly repeated from earlier PSSSB papers. For example: Who among the following is the author of the famous Punjabi novel Pinjar, Taxila was one of the important centers of learning in Ancient India till its decline in ___, Dulla Bhatti is the folk hero of Punjab. He rose in revolt against the revenue policy of ___, and others from exams like Labour Inspector (09 March 2025) and Jail Warder (27 October 2024).
All 20 questions were relatively simple. You just needed to put a little extra emphasis on Punjab’s historical facts, especially Sikh History, and scoring 20 out of 20 was very much possible. Below is the table of questions asked in the different sections.

PSSSB Senior Assistant Exam 3rd Section – Logocal Reasoning & Mental Ability, 30 Questions
In this section Logical Reasoning & Mental Ability had a total of 30 questions with 1 mark each. This section was relatively easy compared to the other two. Most of the questions were straight and could be solved within seconds. Only the Data Interpretation part, which had 5 questions in total, took some extra time, otherwise all were doable and simple.

PSSSB Senior Assistant Exam 4th Section – Punjabi, 15 Questions
In this section, Punjabi had a total of 15 questions with 1 mark each. This section was relatively moderate compared to the previous ones, which were easy to moderate. Here, the examiner added some difficulty for the aspirants, with the majority of the questions coming from Vyakaran. The questions themselves were easy, but the definitions or wording used by the examiner were quite tricky, so many aspirants felt this section was a bit difficult.

PSSSB Senior Assistant Exam 5th Section – English, 15 Questions
In this section, English contained a total of 15 questions, the same as Punjabi, and was easy overall. Synonyms and Antonyms were very simple, along with Active–Passive and Direct–Indirect, which together comprised 8 out of the 15 questions in the English section. The rest included One Word Substitution, which was very simple and easy, Prepositions that were again very simple, and Idioms that were a bit tricky but still manageable. In this section, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) had a total of 10 questions, each carrying 1 mark. This section was also relatively easy, with only 1–2 questions being moderate, but still doable. The questions were very simple, for example: the full form of Computer, the full form of BIOS, 2 questions on shortcuts, and 2 questions on Internet Protocol.

PSSSB Senior Assistant Exam- What is a Good Attempt?
The PSSSB Senior Assistant Exam, held on 21st December 2025, was overall easy to moderate. Around 10–15 questions fell into the moderate category, while only 3–4 were considered difficult. Aspirants who had been preparing Current Affairs from January 2024 had an edge in this exam, since most of the Current Affairs questions were directly asked from that period starting January 2024.
