Operating under the Punjab Private Digital Open Universities Policy 2026, these institutions will offer fully online undergraduate, postgraduate, and professional degree programs. • World Lion Day is celebrated annually on August 10. The 2026 global theme, “Coexistence in a Changing Climate,” highlights the urgency of mitigating climate pressures, habitat loss, and human-wildlife conflict.
• India’s wild Asiatic lion population rose by over 70% from 523 in 2015 to 891 in 2025 across Gujarat’s Greater Gir landscape. • The 8^th edition of the Indian Navy–US Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Exercise 2026 commenced at the Southern Naval Command in Kochi, Kerala, running from August 10 to August 14, 2026. The 5-day specialized program focuses on strengthening operational interoperability, sharing emerging technologies, and enhancing coordination between elite diving and explosive ordnance disposal units of both navies.
