• The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has taken a major step to expand its Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) technology and transfer it to eligible private companies to strengthen domestic space manufacturing, encourage startup participation, and enhance India’s position in global commercial space exploration. This initiative will be implemented by the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe).
• President Droupadi Murmu commemorated the Padma Awards 2026, honouring 65 distinguished personalities from diverse fields including Sports, Cinema, Music, Literature, Public Affairs, and Social Services. The awards comprised 2 Padma Vibhushan, 7 Padma Bhushan, and 56 Padma Shri recognitions.

• Bhu-Aadhaar, proposed by the government to digitize land records, is officially known as the Unique Land Parcel Identification Number (ULPIN). It is an effort to modernize land governance and digitize property records.
• India has taken another step towards technology‑driven governance with the launch of four advanced digital policing applications: 1) Abhigyan, 2) Criminal Procedure Identification (CrPI), 3) e‑Prosecution 2.0, and 4) e‑Forensics 2.0. These applications are integrated with the Integrated Criminal Justice System (ICJS).
• India’s first Made‑in‑India C295 transport aircraft is scheduled to be delivered to the Indian Air Force (IAF) by September 2026. This aircraft is being assembled by Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) in partnership with Airbus.

• Lakadong Turmeric has now become a talking point worldwide as it was showcased among India’s premium products at the 52nd G7 Summit held in France. This turmeric variety is cultivated in Meghalaya’s Jaintia Hills and is known for its very high curcumin content.
• United Nations Chief António Guterres has launched the Global Methane Action Plan in response to the rising climate crisis. While carbon dioxide remains the largest contributor to long‑term global warming, methane is attracting increasing attention because of its powerful short‑term impact.
