Despite competing with a significantly scaled-down contingent of 122 athletes (compared to 210 at Birmingham 2022) and in a stripped-back 10-sport program, India improved its conversion rate in overlapping events and edged out host nation Scotland for a top-4 finish on silver count.
- The 4th Tri-Services Future Warfare Course commenced on August 3, 2026, at the Manekshaw Centre in New Delhi. Organized under the aegis of the Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff (HQ IDS) and coordinated by the Centre for Joint Warfare Studies (CENJOWS), the four-week program aims to prepare military leadership for next-generation combat and multi-domain security challenges.
- The Maharashtra Freedom of Religion Act, 2026—commonly referred to as the state’s anti-conversion law—received presidential assent from President Droupadi Murmu. With its publication in the official gazette, the Act has officially come into force. Maharashtra has become the 13th state in India to enact legislation regulating religious conversions, joining states such as Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, and Gujarat.

- The Chief of the Army Staff, General Dhiraj Seth, launched the indigenously developed Xtreme Weather Grade (XWG) Diesel in New Delhi. Jointly developed by the Indian Army and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) alongside other Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) in less than a year, the fuel addresses operational mobility challenges in high-altitude, sub-zero combat zones along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and Line of Control (LoC).
- Indian Railways provides an Emergency Quota (EQ) of up to 12 berths per train to help cancer patients and their attendants secure confirmed tickets for urgent medical travel. To apply, passengers with a ticket must submit a written application along with a hospital-issued Rail Concession Certificate and medical records to the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) or local EQ office before chart preparation. Once verified, priority berth confirmation is granted alongside fare concessions of up to 100% for patients and up to 75% for accompanying escorts.
