- Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare J. P. Nadda launched e-Sushrut@Clinic in New Delhi, a digital platform based on a cloud-based Hospital Management Information System (HMIS). It is primarily designed for small outpatient clinics, Primary Health Centres (PHCs), Health and Wellness Centres (HWCs), and Sub-Centres, and has been developed by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC).
- India and Seychelles signed 19 major initiatives during the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Seychelles President Patrick Herminie in the capital city, Victoria. The major highlight of the visit was India’s vision of being a “Net Security Provider” in the Indian Ocean, through partnerships with island nations under the flagship initiative Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions (MAHASAGAR). Other key areas of cooperation included UPI-based digital payments, defence collaboration, and the peaceful use of outer space.
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Jonathan, the world’s oldest living land animal — a tortoise born in 1832 — who currently resides in the British Overseas Territory of Saint Helena, located in the South Atlantic Ocean.
- India finished in third place for the first time ever and won the bronze medal in the AVC Men’s Volleyball Cup, held at the Veer Savarkar Sports Complex in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The gold medal went to Indonesia, who defeated South Korea in the finals — marking Indonesia’s first-ever gold in the AVC Men’s Volleyball Cup.
- George Russell won the 2026 Austrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, securing his seventh career Formula 1 victory. He started from pole position and held off Max Verstappen in a tense finish, crossing the line just 1.611 seconds ahead.
- Ashok Vaswani, the current Managing Director and CEO of Kotak Mahindra Bank, will step down at the end of his three-year term on December 31, 2026, citing personal reasons. The bank has already initiated the process of finding his successor.
- HDFC Bank has appointed former Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar as its part-time Chairman for a three-year term.
- India’s first offshore airport has received in-principle approval from Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The proposal, presented by the Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC), envisions building the airport entirely over the sea — either on an artificial island or on specially designed offshore platforms.
- The Union Law Ministry has launched a new application module, an online service integrated into the government’s existing notary portal. This module allows eligible legal practitioners and advocates to digitally apply for appointment as Notary Public under the Notaries Act, 1952 and Notaries Rules, 1956.
- India and Saudi Arabia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in water resource management, sustainable irrigation, and capacity building during the inaugural Saudi Water Week in Jeddah.
- Indian UPI has reached another milestone as Eurobank launched a UPI-based remittance service for cross-border transfers from Greece to India. The service has been introduced in collaboration with NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL).
- Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) has become more accessible with the launch of the Ayushman Sarathi WhatsApp chatbot, developed by the National Health Authority (NHA).
- The Government of India has established the Bureau of Port Security (BoPS), a newly created national body solely responsible for regulating and overseeing the security of ships and port facilities across India. BoPS will function under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways.
- India’s industrial output growth rose to a five-month high of 5.1 percent in May, up from 4.9 percent in April, according to data released by the National Statistics Office (NSO).
- The Government of India has launched the FCRA 2.0 portal along with the e-Overseas Citizen of India (e-OCI) card. The FCRA 2.0 portal is an upgraded digital platform developed to manage services under the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 2010 (FCRA).
- Bangladesh batter Mushfiqur Rahim has been chosen as the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for May 2026, in recognition of his outstanding performances during Bangladesh’s historic Test victory over Pakistan.
- England fast bowler Lauren Bell has been chosen as the ICC Women’s Player of the Month for May 2026, following her impressive performances in the series against New Zealand and India.
- Gaurav Yadav will continue as the regular Director General of Punjab Police, following his selection from the UPSC shortlist.
- Haryana Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi has received his second six-month extension, following the recommendation of the state government.
- CBDT Chairman Ravi Aggarwal has received a six-month extension as the chief of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT).
