• Punjab Government under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann launched the Meri Rasoi Yojana, under which a total of 40 lakh needy families will be provided free ration consisting of 2 kg Chana Dal, 2 kg Sugar, 1 kg Salt, 200 g Turmeric Powder, and 1 litre Mustard Oil every three months for families holding a Blue Card.
• Under the new Aadhaar rules, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has amended the Aadhaar (Enrolment and Update) Regulations, 2016, making it mandatory for children up to five years of age to enrol through the Family‑based Aadhaar enrolment system headed by the Head of Family. Parents or legal guardians must possess a valid Aadhaar number for this enrolment.
• India has added another feather to its cap by successfully conducting the indigenously developed maiden flight of TARA (Tactical Advanced Range Augmentation), a glide weapon system, off the coast of Odisha. TARA can convert unguided warheads into precision‑guided weapons to neutralise ground‑based enemy targets.
• India is celebrating the 486^th birth anniversary of Maharana Pratap Ji.
• Nilkanth S. Avhad, a Punjab‑cadre IAS officer from the 1999 batch, has been appointed Secretary of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). He succeeds Manish Bharadwaj, a Gujarat‑cadre IAS officer, who has been given charge as Adviser, Inter‑State Council Secretariat under the MHA.
